Welcome to The Official Ray Naso Art Gallery
My name is Ray Naso. My inspiration for drawing started back when I was very young growing up in Ohio. I credit most of my drawing ability to my Mother and Father. When I was about 4 years old I watched my Father draw a picture for me. That day I remember very well. It was as if the lights had just turned on.  Through the years I continued to draw with lots of encouragement from my Mother and Father.  With their support, it has shaped me to what I am today.
As most artists, my work is intended for others to enjoy. It's a way to communicate to friends, family and anyone that has an appreciation of art. As they say, "A picture says a thousand words".  When you look at a drawing or painting, it says many things to many people.  I like to keep it simple. For me I just like to make others smile.
Inside you will find drawings of Still LifeArchitecture, portraits of John WayneCary GrantWalt DisneyElvis and more.
You will also find studies of anatomy, shadows and light using charcoal and pastels.
In the animation section you will find both 2D and 3D animations.
"The Bouncing Puppy" is a great example of 2D animation. It is a simple animation that I did years ago. I still think it's fun to watch. 2D animation is done by drawing several frames / pictures and viewed at 30 frames per second.  Yes, 30 pictures go by every second. Each drawing is just a little different from the previous one and when put to motion they seem to come to life. Some of the best and most admired 2D animation was created by Walt Disney.  Movies like "Snow White and the seven Dwarfs", Pinnochio, Bambi, Alice in Wonderland, "The Fox and the Hound", amoung many others.
3D animation is a relatively new spin from 2D animation. You're not drawing frame by frame anymore, however some drawing is still required. 3D animation is done using a computer and a specialized program or two like MAYA, and Renderman that allow you to create characters using a modeling system and then after your character is developed, it needs to be textured and have specialized lighting effects added. Then it's keyframed to create your 3D animation.  These steps change a bit when doing 3D animation depending on the final outcome. One special thing about 3D animation that is a special benefit opposed to 2D animation is that the character exists in a 3D world in your computer.  What does that mean? Well, it means that after you finished the first sequence in your animation, you can go in and change a few things including the camera angle and end up with a totally new sequence or animation without having to recreate or draw the characters like you did in the beginning. It's like you have these characters living in your computer and you direct them to do the actions that you want.
Some well known masters of this medium are PIXARDreamworksILMCafeFX, and Disney. There are others that have taken this art to new heights and I think they all deserve a big hand. They have brought us some of the best entertainment that eyes have ever seen.
It was really a big jump from 2D to 3D. It makes you wonder about what we will see next.
Thank you for visiting my art gallery.
